Firspring Capital, a small-business funding broker in Sioux City, Iowa, answers owners' common questions here: what a broker does, who decides, whether a business loan can pay the owner, whether an LLC can borrow, why personal loans are not arranged, and how merchant cash advances differ from loans. Lending partners decide every request.
About Firspring Capital
Is Firspring Capital a lender?
No. Firspring Capital is a broker, not a lender. The word Capital is in the name, but partners put up the money, decide and set the terms.
Where are you?
Our address is 1916 Pierce St, Sioux City, IA 51104, in Woodbury County. Phone (712) 206-3202.
Which places do you serve?
Businesses in Sioux City, IA and Iowa communities nearby, including Sergeant Bluff and Le Mars. Every community we serve lists the rest.
What do you not do?
We do not arrange personal, payday, auto title, mortgage or SBA loans, and we do not offer grants. Partners do not fund agriculture or trucking. We work in English only.
Using business funding
May borrowed business money go toward my own paycheck?
Partners lend for the company's needs, not the owner's household. Paying owner draws or salary from borrowed money is something partners look at closely, and some contracts forbid it. Tell the partner exactly what the funds are for; misstating the purpose can breach the contract.
Why not just take out a personal loan for the shop?
A personal loan puts the debt in your own name and on your personal credit, and the lender may restrict business use. A business structure keeps the obligation with the company, although most partners still ask for a personal guarantee. We arrange business funding only.
Does an Iowa LLC qualify to apply?
Yes. Partners fund LLCs, corporations, partnerships and sole proprietors. The legal name on the request should match the bank account and the state record.
Merchant cash advances
Do advances count as loans?
No. A merchant cash advance is a purchase of future receipts. It is collected through remittances and priced with a factor. Read the merchant cash advance page before signing one.
Why would anyone choose one?
Some card-heavy businesses accept the higher cost in exchange for collections that follow sales. Always compare the total collected with a loan quoted for the same need.
The process
Which fields are on the Firspring request form?
Full name, phone and email, an optional business name, pick-lists for time in business, annual revenue and the amount requested, and consent. There is no box for a Social Security number or bank statements. What the money is for gets covered once we phone you back.
Who decides and when?
A lending partner decides, on its own timeline. We cannot promise approval, amounts, rates or timing. How a request works explains each stage, and the resources hub has guides for preparing.
